Local card issuance functionality takes the wait out of obtaining a smart card, and encourages customers to switch to smart even if they have a season ticket that has months to run.
Working closely with a TOC customer, we have produced a mobile app for Android devices that allows a staff member to retrieve customer and ticket information directly from GoldSTAR and produce an ITSO smart card there and then. A customer can be given a personalised card which can be taken to a ticket office or ticket vending machine to load a product, or if they are current season ticket holders, the paper ticket can be transferred onto the smart card as an ITSO product for immediate travel. Interfacing with 3rd party smart card printers, such as the ESP Systex SmartWedge, we can apply your company's card design so the locally issued cards are indistinguishable from any applied for online and produced by your bureau : but the customer walks away with it in their hand.

The app communicates with Rail Delivery Group's Central Back Office to ensure that all requests and fulfilments are recorded there as well as in your GoldSTAR database, and the printer takes care of updating the HOPS with the relevant information.
